BondX is a member experience platform designed for associations, unions and membership organisations. At its simplest, you could describe it as something like SharePoint for membership bodies, but more modern, more purposeful and built around the needs of members.

The platform brings together the tools an organisation needs to run its member experience. Staff can manage members, publish content, create groups, handle cases, run events, take payments, manage subscriptions, share resources and track engagement. Members get a clean, app-like home where they can access updates, communities, learning, events and services. I was the sole designer across the product, shaping the UX, UI, information architecture, design system and overall product experience.

Members get a clean, app-like home where they can access updates, communities, learning, events and services. I was the sole designer across the product, shaping the UX, UI, information architecture, design system and overall product experience.

One home for members, one system for staff

BondX is made up of two connected sides. The admin platform gives staff the tools to manage the organisation. This includes CRM, content management, finance, cases, workflows, groups, resources, events, news, marketplace, learning and analytics. The member experience gives members a simple, branded home across web and mobile. From there, they can read updates, join groups, access resources, manage payments, attend events, complete learning and interact with the organisation. The aim was to reduce the need for scattered tools and fragile integrations. Instead of sending members across separate systems for content, payments, support and learning, BondX brings the experience into one place.

Creative challenges

Designing something powerful without making it feel corporate

Membership platforms can easily become dense, admin-heavy and visually cold. BondX needed to feel capable enough for complex organisations, but simple enough that staff could actually enjoy using it. The design approach was minimal, warm and subtle. I avoided anything too visually dominant, because the product needed to support a wide range of brands. A police union, healthcare association, professional body or creative organisation should all be able to theme the same product and still make it feel like their own. That meant the interface had to act more like a calm framework than a loud brand. Soft surfaces, clear hierarchy, flexible components and restrained colour usage made the platform feel polished, adaptable and easy to customise.
