Overview

Trader’s delight.

Fully customisable personal dashboards, full market depth, stock screener, award-winning charting, news, broker reporting, watchlists and more.

Whilst initially Opentrader’s rebrand (as part of the bigger parent group rebrand) was focused on mass market acquisition, we pivoted towards sophisticated traders with regards to messaging, website design, app UI/UX and more.

Positioning Opentrader

A total rebrand from the outside in.

Using the old to inspire the new

Different is better than better. A core piece of the Opentrader (and its parent company) brand system was using collage with out-of-copyright vintage imagery to create something not unique to the market, but production extremely fast.

Something.. something.. dark side

The 1980s DOS terminals and neon green aesthetic reminiscent of films like Wall Street lended itself easily to animation. Assets created on the marketing side could easily feed into the product and vice versa through quickly.

Surgical uplifts

A brand is only as good as its product. A series of lean UX and UI uplifts on various pain-points were undertaken that not only increased volume of trading, retained more customers, but even made the CEO of a famous rival trading app declare in private that it was his favourite to use on the market including his own. No hints on who, though.

All new dashboard

A large part of Opentrader’s appeal is the customisable dashboard - where totally any number of widgets can be combined and selected by the user. The rebrand carefully uplifted the UI interface, but also made the widgets more integrated to user and third party data (linkable to portfolios or watch lists) as well totally resizable to suit any investor flow.

Cleaning up the order pad

Opentrader’s order pad was redesigned from scratch - halving the amount of steps and reducing bounce rate to trade.

Integrated live news

A pro feature, MT Newswires was integrated within Opentrader with key additions from the product side to maximise usability. Articles relevant to particular stocks had embedded charts from within the platform, and navigation buttons were added to take you to the order pad to make actioning trades faster.

Admin with oomph

A new feature created was formless withdrawals - but who said we couldn’t have a bit of fun?
