Maqro Research

Interface Design / Experience Design / Market Positioning / Financial Research / Data Visualisation

Overview

An ASX research platform that combines expert insights, realtime data analytics, and portfolio recommendations.

Maqro is a tech company that’s determined to eliminate the many barriers faced by investors, in an effort to bridge the gap between retail and institutional investors.

I joined their team to redesign their Maqro Research app, taking it from the existing MVP to a fully-featured powerhouse of market data and recommendations. The goal was to target investors that had outgrown the limitations of their trading platforms - a true companion product that allowed more holistic goals-based investing.

Outcome

Welcome home

An enhanced dashboard adding eight new widgets and a completely redesigned recommendations list.

Putting the search in ‘Research’

An exponentially increasing plethora of new features and data sets meant the search function had to be redesigned from the ground up - allowing easier and precise navigation.

Knowledge to go

All the extensive features in desktop recreated on mobile for a seamless experience.

The “secret sauce”

A super fast heuristic tool, the proprietary Maqro Score is an exclusive feature that combines vast amounts of quantitive and qualitative data for any stock ticker. Unique to Maqro, its incredible complexity is tucked away in the backend, leaving users a simple visual aid when investigating the value of a stock.

“…think Pokémon

Core to Maqro Research is its core selection of portfolios, all with very different investment goals. Portfolios were treated as microscopic brands, each with an icon and colour rule carefully conceived to not distract from the overarching UX/UI

Trading charts with intent

Split seconds make all the difference in the trading world. Maqro’s charts for individual tickers were designed to show clear actionable parameters for each recommendation.

Dynamic data filters

Designed to be a concise way to ensure effective portfolio construction and management, showing an example breakdown of each portfolio allocation.

Give it a whirl.

Design is so much more than the glossy curated pictures - and when it comes to product they never do it justice. Maqro Research is free to play around in so g’wan, take it for a spin.
